I am bringing my young lad out tomorrow evening he's 11 and been out a couple of times. I am looking for suggestions as to the best location close to dun laoighre?any advice would be great.

killiney is deadly..just be wary of cranky walkers..
very handy though..
From Dalkey Car park you can go straight across to the tea rooms in killiney and up the tarmac..
From there up the hill to the Obelisk and if you go down by the sacrificial slabs ( don't ask)
theres a few trails in there..
The Wolefs have a couple of deadly short trails off the Obelisk..
But I used to bring beginners down the steps back to the Dalkey side and up the other side..
and theres drops and slabs behind the Quarry signal station and turn around and go back down to the Dalkey Car Park via several deadly little singetrack runs !
Unless he is very experienced you can't take him seriously offroad, he'll hate you..
bring him to Djouce, avoid the big climbs and have the craic with him skidding..
I'm planning a Kids Club..just give me till after the Nationals, ye flute !

I brought him out before and there was tears as u tend to forget how tough it is.
I don't know too many People who bring kids but want to spend some time with him cycling.if he gets to like it half as much as me I'll be happy.kilinney hill is good idea we could walk up. I'll help u with kids club after nationals thanks man T

i've seen adults cry !!! you forget , you are well used to this stuff..kids bikes are muck and weigh the same as a small car !
Does it break some type of rule if you tow your kid uphill with a cut tube? I do this in Ballinsatoe in parts, although she pedals for all of the climbs to varying degrees and I'm just helping her along. Am I ruining her coach Byrne?
