Is there better than Lug ?
Is there a mountain as big elsewhere that you can ride up 95% of ? that has a 40 minute mental descent !
I have a few ideas..now obviously to ride up these things you have to be a savage fit person !

Wouldn't bother with Nephin, just too steep to ride up almost any of it. Very rough and rocky for descending, probably too much to be any fun. Beauty of Lug is being able to ride >> 90% of the climb as well as the descent.
Comeraghs may have some potential.
Never been up Brandon to my shame so can't comment.
Don't know Galtymore well enough.
Still want to try Errigal at some stage, but only in a push up & ride down sense, full armour etc.
Apart from the Black Bog of 1798 at the very top, this route may have some merits:http://www.imra.ie/events/view/tab/maps/id/730/. The descent is sublime; the climb tough but largely rideable. Or for a few extra road miles there's tarmac right to the top if that should be preferred for some sick, bizarre reason. Get there in an hour more than Glendalough from South Dublin. One for the dry.
Do ye fellas think there would be good potential in developing Neiphan along the lines with what has been done in Ballinastoe, or do i have an over active imagination?
Any chance someone could pm me the route you take up lug. I've never managed to cycle up 90% of it. Are ye heading up glenmallure or from the glen of imaal over camara hill?
Nephin itself... No way. I've even seen John Lenihan walk a section of that.
I've been looking at the western side of the Nephin Beg range though, and I reckon there is massive potential there. Would take a bit of exploring though.
Maamturks.... probably not. I hope to be doing some exploring there in the next few months, so I'll check it out a bit more with my MTB head on.
Maumtrasna and the party mountains to the east of the turks look like they'd be possible. Never been up on those ones though.
The spine of the galtees would definitely be worth a go! The knockmeldowns also look to me like they have plenty of potential. I think a few of the MBCC lads have had good big spins there.
Speaking of the MBCC lads, I think they've also ridden Cahir, which of course has got quite a few metres on lug. Don't think they rode up though.
Lots to do in the dingle area alright. Brandon... maybe from the west, maybe accross the foothills from the south, but definitely not from the east. Would be a cracking descent west though. We did a good long rideable off road climb from dingle up the other side of the conor pass in the turas, followed by a very enjoyable descent back to sea level.
Also from the turas, and on the Iveragh peninsula, we did a mega climb up Teermoyle mountain, accross to Coomacarrea with a stunning descent down to the valley south. Left me speachless on national radio! Lots more around there, and on Iveragh in general to be explored.
I get the feeling that there is a load in the mournes that the nordies probably know all about. Plenty of tracks over them running in all directions.

I'd imagine Slieve Donard would be a good one to do, I know theres DH stuff there and a good network of fireroads so riding to the top should be grand.
I notice Croagh Patrick hasn't been mentioned, you can ride up about 60% of that and then it's hike a bike from there...which isn't too bad for the descent thats in it. Only took us two hours to climb with DH bikes too....
