Post Traumatic Race Disorder?

Anyone else suffer from Post Traumatic Race Disorder? I have real problems sleeping after a club race, it is usually 3am before my brain quietens down and the heart stops thumping. It's driving me nuts!
Yes Don...i suffer from this also. As soon as i close the eyes its like the whole race starts all over again in front of me!! Im thinking something herbal might be the answer to quash this disorder:)
More racing Don and your body will adjust. But then you will have another problem like me, you'll be half asleep when not on the bike and only awake for the races..!
researched it before,
and it's to do with the adrenalin pumping around the system.
your body has just had a full on attack,So to speak, and that's the result,I find if you stay up as long as possible, eat tons and have a few beers it helps plus loads of water,I woke up at 3 am with the horrors, sweating like fcuk,as i forgot to get the water in last night, pint in pub and 3 tinnies at home!,but i find that the fitter i get the more my system adapts to it.
I've tried staying up late, eating, not eating...I have relaxation CD at home, I'll try that but don't see it helping..."You are laying on a faraway beach, the sun is shining..." when you brain is saying "You are bouncing off trees at full tilt being eaten by midges."

Not quite the same, but the ol' bowels do be in a jocker after hillrunning. Feels like a lot of trapped wind, bloating, needing a sh1te but there's nothing there, that sort of thing. Curiously only ever happens after evening runs, NEVER after daytime races. Nor does it happen after biking, regardless of how intense the effort.

Any of you part time dieticians or similarly qualified people out there got advice on it?

Don, you could try a large brandy, or some zolpidem tartrate. Best get the latter over the internet, you'd need a prescription for it otherwise. Goes by the name Stilnoct here, may have other names in other countries. Good stuff though, does the job. Problem is these sleep inducing drugs draw all sorts of the wrong attention because of date rape issues. Another option, you could try cough medicine - gobzilla on irishdh could get you some, his mother is apparently quite fond of it.

Thanks for sharing that with us Alan! Now that you mention it, did I ever tell you what High 5 4:1 does to me ........

Melatonin is great for relaxing you Don!

Read up on that stuff, sounds kind of dodgy!
What is all this nonsense, this is why beer was invented.
Previous club champs endorse Duval for it's efficiency, I go for Heino export.
The best trick is to get home and quench the post race thirst with a frothy pint rather then water. This helps you sleep and you have an amazingly rough hangover thanks to the dehydration!

Duval!?! Last time I heard that word it was followed closely by "tasted like the drainings from the devils jockstrap" :)
Stilnoct is great stuff....

If you can stop yourself from falling asleep you start to hallucinate after about an hour or so......
I find a good ride does the trick...four kids and counting...eh maybe do the duval trick!
Im with Gordob plan...works a treat...i might not have won the race but i a real hero after it...
