EPIC XC Nationals 18th July 2010 - Marshals Needed

Hello.

This years EPIC is hosting the XC National on the 17th and 18th of July in Djouce.

We will need marshals for the Sunday the 18th.

We will need marshals for the Youth, Sport and Categories races. The ideal marshal will marshal all the races but you can, for example, race Sports and marshal the Categories.

As always I will be trying to put marshals at good spectating spots and moving them around to avoid boredom.

So if volunteers could PM me with the following that'd be great;

A) Your full name,
B) Your mobile number
C) Whether you can marshal the Youth, Sport, Categories or All races.
D) Your Cycling Ieland Number (insurance reasons)

Cathal

Now I hoping that all the downhillers that got to race in the Glen, due to all the help from the XC lads, are going to repay the favour and marshal for this event so they can race. Be decent and offer your help.
Get in touch with Cathal sooner rather than later, this is a crucial part of the whole event and we need numbers.
Now folks, i hope we are going to be snowed under with Marshall Volunteers..
Unless you have a very good excuse, all EPIC members are either racing or helping..this is The Cross Country National Championships.
Richie
So far the response has been excellent.

This is a major event for the club and must be well run.

The more volunteers we have the easier it gets for everyone.

I'm looking at you, baggy shorts types.
If all the Sunday marshalls could meet me at 9:30 at the race office, portacabin that'd be great.

I'll be ringing you all over the next day or so to confirm everything anyway.

In the meantime here is are some things you should bring on the day.

A fully charged, in credit, mobile phone.
Insect repellant
Sun block
An umbrella, good for the sun and rain
Something to sit on
Something to read
Something to listen to
Some food and water
If you know first aid bring your kit
Your bike, handy for getting around
Well huge thanks for a long days work from all the marshals.

In particular I'm grateful to those who had to do the entire day. I had planned to replace more of you, but unfortunately that didn't work out.

It all paid off when the lad with the broken ankle was in the ambulance so quickly after his fall. Brian and James from the Red Cross were on the ball as always.

I'm also very appreciative that everyone took down tape as they were going. I know well after a days marshalling how anxious you are to just get out of there.
Here here to all the marshals on both Saturday and Sunday and to cathal for organising it all so professionally. Thank you.
