Going to Castlewellan this Sunday made me think and this is what I think ! the order doesn't really matter !!
And We run the Nationals again.
Nps 0 Ballinastoe - EPIC
Nps 1 Bunclody - Racing 795
Nps 2 Carlingford - Cuchulainn
NPS 3 Kilruddery - Team Worc
NPS 4 Castlewellan - XMTB
NPS 5 Slade Valley-IMBRC
NPS 6 3 Rock -MAD
NPS 7 Killarney 09 Killarney
I think Tollymore and Moneyscalp also have merits, in fact I thought they were great courses..but I think you need a field or park area to finish.
I think all the main organisers need to sit down and decide as a group what way things are going to go and agree on it, standardise everything from start times to timing.
I think there should be an NPS Jersey for every Category Winner.
I think the Technical zones need to be more thought out.
I think when organisers run an event they should take the support people ( Families) in to consideration.
I think the Under 8's , 10's and 12's should go at 10.00 and their prizegiving should be just
before the start of the Sports Race.
I think there should be 1 main sponsor of the NPS
I think there should be several National Developmental Teams at each NPS from under 12s to under Juniors.
I think all the under 8's and 10s should get a medal or at least a certificate of deadliness.
I think there should be a serious presence from THE COMMISSAAR.
Bear in mind that these are just the personal opinions of myself..
Due to the efforts of the Commission and all the organising clubs..Cross Country Racing has resurged in popularity..
Next year , with the mythical ( Insert Smiley) European Championships on the horizon, the inception of the purpose built trails on 3 rock..its going to explode in popularity,

all good locations hope the killarney trail improves, grass fields shouldnt be used glad to see you havent included magheramorne thats some dump and the set up there was the worst of all the rounds but dunmoe mt the dromara nps isnt bad need a bit of balance between north and south, agree with you regarding the underage development squads and cert or medals for all who do the u8 and 10 races
Both Dromara and Lady Dixons are good venues..just not my type , John...The lads in Limerick also do a good job..I just don't like the venue..
it would be cool to see Darren McGann and the Connemara MTB Initiative run one on one of their forests and bring back the Carlingford Mountain NPS..
Then theres Tracton in Cork..
I liked last years Killarney NPS Course..I think this year higher Powers insisted on using the one they did..
Rostrevor is also a great Venue, as is Conlig..obviously CLubs have their reasons for not using certain venues..the above ones are just on my wishlist !!
yeah the killarney course the year before was good really enjoyed that course it was my 1st ever nps race and finished 13th wont finish that high again id love to see an nps in bigwood newry there is some class trail

Jerseys for the league winner/leader is a good idea(but might add to the costs). Sponsorship for the series would be fantastic,maybe to pay for timing/prizes. On the venues situation I think there should be 2 races from Munster,Leinster,Ulster and then one from Connacht for the NPS,only because its impossible for riders from outside of Leinster to make it to all the rounds. Last year we had 3 races in Northern Ireland which is just too much,so it would be good to make it a little bit easier for those of us in the West or the South. I think the venue for the National Champs should change every year(nothing wrong with Djouce at all,great venue)might help other clubs to push the boat out and try and match the effort of the Epic crew,which was monumental to say the least,well done. Magheramorne wasnt the best really so I think that could be replaced(maybe by the Djouce venue and use the 3Rock for the Nationals). Killarney should be alot better by next season,work should be underway soon and your ratings shouldn't be based on the race this year. Clare was mighty but really no one should be aloud to cycle it for a good month beforehand as this year the single track was just over-riden before the race. Slade needs more overtaking opportunities along that single track to avoid that crazy congestion of this year. So it would look a little like this,Lady Dixon,Djouce,Clare,Slade Valley,Killarney,Dromara and room for one more in Leinster or Connacht and the Champs in 3rock.
Or something like that...oh,and loads more cow bells :)
Well said Matt, we need more National opinions on this..rather than the usual suspects !! And while I know there are good reasons for MAD not running their race through the field..you'll have to figure something out there !! I agree with Joey..its a key issue for me..!!
Bear in mind folks that while EPIC has over 130 members..there was a very, very small number of people actually involved in the running and Organisation of the Nationals so you don't need a huge number of Club members to run a deadly NPS just a few really good ones...

I'm trying to get the wheels in motion to develop trails on Nephin Mayo. I have no experience, no conatcts etc. Doing the usual stuff re contacting Mayo co co, Clubs and local Leader program for funding.
Any help from here greatly appreciated, benefits being maybe somewhere to race in the west for ye lads n lassies in a few years.......
