12 Hour Race this Saturday

I've entered this with 3 friends and one of them is after getting sick so we need a sub. If anyone fancys doing a few laps on Saturday drop me a mail on dtcoyne@gmail.com

We are all fairly new to this, so we're hading for the craic, not to kill ourselves!

I'm bringing the camper up, so there will be some where to sit down and eat pasta/drink tea between laps. if anyone esle from Epic is competing, call over for a cuppa and some grub - we'll be in the big white homemade camper with the grey roof.

I did the track last night and its nice - allot of work has gone in and there's no fire road - all single track thorugh the forest. It's probably a bit easier technicaly than the Lead mines lap.

to be honest Dave..i thought about it but between a multitude of reasons I decided against it !! But the Dh nationals the following week should be the craic !!

Well, in the end Niall from MAD made up our fourth and we headed down. Cracking event with a great track that was tough, but allot of fun to ride. It was the first ever race for three of us and a bit of an eye opener/exploder - I thought my lungs were going to collapse a few times!

If its run again next year it would be well worth heading down to. Great set up with a bit of craic in the pits between laps and afterwards with the BBQ and bonfire.

well done Dave ...fair play to you for attending , the thoughts of a multiple multiple lap race has never appealed to me...
Cuchulainn run the Cooley Thriller in September..i'll be at that, its well worth going to! !

Heard allot of people on about that one over the weekend - supposed to be deadly. I'll be there and hopefully manage do drag a few suckers down for the craic.....

thats actually on the 28th August..theres usually a 54k one and a 27k..the 54k is a real challenge but the 27k is actually deadly

yeah the 12 hr was da bizz best race of the year bar the nationals:) they used most of the same course that was used in the leinster league with an extra 3km added it was tough but great craic in the pit area i did the 4 man team race we even managed to get 3rd :)14 laps in 12 hrs ,im going to retire from racing now might aswell go out near the top dont think ill see a 3rd place again;D the solo race is only for the crazzzzy,it really is a great event id hope to see a few epic jerseys @ next years race it would suit alot of the epic riders and the triller is a great race 2 im doing the shorter 21km with my 11 year old should be good

yeah maybe next year John..what non Dublin Clubs don't realise is that we run our Club League race on a Thursday and it attracts riders from all over the place..its savage and its 20 races long..after the Nationals its fair to say it becomes the focal point for the EPIC racers. Its very close at the top and its so enjoyable it gains precedent over the remaining races in the calender.
The come Saturday and Sunday we just get a big kick out of the spins we do..
No offence to Cucuhulainn and Tony for putting on the event but it just didn't capture our attention.
And theres no point in going on to mtbireland and trying to coax them, they are a very small minority.
Organisers who want big numbers at their races need to focus on us, MAD and IMBRC, we're the biggest and most organised Clubs in the Country.
