I know many of you are familiar with young Mr. Gregory Callaghan, he was best of the Irish in the European Championships today, with an very, very impressive 25th. He was racing against the cream of european elite downhill, on a savage hard course.

Also the young lads, who I know most of you don't know, will have to pay excess luggage charges on their way home, loads of heavy medals to drag back. Kipper 1st Under 16, Cam Cornforth 4th Under 14, Luke Conrnforth 2nd Under14. Its a good job we only sent three.

The brits ran an NPS the same day, not that it would have mattered, they never go to it anyway, not sure what the thinking is. We would have had more young lads there if it wasn't for the Brit NPS, young Dan Sheridan had to make the tough decision to miss the Euro in favour of trying to keep 2nd spot in the Brit NPS, he would definitely have gotten a medal, just a question of what colour. A hard choice, but the right one in his position.
Yep, the commentators where typical Euro sport, mixing up riders, talking complete ****e, not knowing what was going on. Five minute debate between the two commentators about whether 'cleated in' riders where 'confident' enough to hit the rocky section. It would be funny if you weren't actually interested in watching the race.
while we are on the subject..this Team would never have happened without Sean waving his stick..fortunately hes a very respectable member of the MTB Community otherwise this stuff would never happen..
but I'm not !!! and as a veteran of many years of seeing badly managed teams and poor fiscal creativity , I know **** !!

Great results from the lads, especially Greg, Kipper, Luke & Cam. 4 proper legends, on and off the bikes.
A huge effort as well from Natalie, Anthony, James and as Mr Byrne points out, Sean went to crazy lengths behind the scenes to get this to happen.
The results speak for themselves though, hopefully we'll have more representation at these kinds of events in future. I really don't follow other cycling disciplines, but in how many do we bring back European gold and silver medals? Surely this should point to more funding for MTB going forward?

Colin, it was pretty bad the way the brits didn't really go, Sam Flockhart who won juniors was the only Brit there and he pitted with us for the weekend because he was only with his Dad.
Richie, your bleedin right about the Thrusday night training, it stood to me big time! I gained 2.5 seconds on the lad who was leading when I came down in the last minute and a half, some of which was a sprint so all this XC craic does help... imagine if you didn't convince me into giving it a bash, I probably would've puked all over the nice lady at the finish line!
good man Greg..and for my next trick I am going to get you to win the Cyclocross National Champs..oh yeah..just watch the Off roadies cringe when you do it in a pisspot and baggies!!
