Connacht Trails

Hi there,

I've just purchased a mountain bike after aver 10 years out fo the saddle & I'm looking for trails in or around the connacht area.

I've been able to find a limited number online & I've tried out the Derroura trail in Maam Cross with a couple of mates.

Got through it easily enough in 2 hours so I'm looking for other trails around the same level of difficulty.

Any suggestions??

Not built yet, looking to have part of the Nephin mountain opened up. There are existing trails such as the western way that you can have a go on . Single track is all but a vision at this stage i'm afraid.....

Oh Im around westport. Shame about lack of anything dedicated in the area.

As Morgan said there is a trail in Rosscahil woods.
There is a group of us that go out every thursday there.
Its good crack but you would need to go out with someone who has done all the trails in there before or you wont find them too handy.

Ross Woods has a lot of cross country single track

and Then there is the bigger track, Derroura, about 15m min past that if you're coming from the Galway side. A bit too advanced if you're only getting into it but no major drops or hard descents. Very bumpy though.

if you head east from Galway you can get to Portumna. its all flat but its good fun and very easy

There is also a Downhill track near Tuam called Knockma but ive never been so i dont know where it is. I've been told that if you are driving from Galway to Tuam, you take a left had turn before you come to Tuam itself and its a few minutes drive down that road.
