10sp Does it worth to change?

Shimano is making the 10sp groupset for SLX and XT now. Anyway does it worth the bother or just stick with the 9 speed set up?

Do you need to have enough space on the freewheel body in the hub to get one of this running?

Do you need to change the Chainset also?

That are the prices on chainreaction to get the 10speed running.. if you don’t need to change the wheel.

137.54 Chainset SLX
34.99 Chain. SLX
40 Cassete SLX
50 Shifters XT
50 Rear SLX
312.53
Forget about 10sp Mario... stick with the 9sp for now... it will be a very very long time before 9sp is eventually phased out.. if ever..!

If your building a new bike from scratch I'd definitely consider 10sp... but first I'd like to see how 10sp blocks cope with Irish conditions before making the change over..

Try a 2x9 set up first..
Thanks Gerry, will stick with your opinion about that that.

Just thinking about upgrades.. now that I got a new suspension and pair of wheels.
I saw this but the cost for a XX is insane.. far from the € 315.00 needed to set up a SLX/XT.

I was just thinking because the € 315.00 is kind of acceptable, and I was thinking in change most of the components in the list.
the shimano system seems to still be a 3 x 10, and the Sram a 2 x 10 saving weight, as gerry says the tolerences for when things get muddy off road could be less and may not be worth the pain...

And sure who needs a 28tx36t anyways? No double chainset for SLX, only XTR which would be for XC racing only anyways...
that money would be better spent on a holiday or some coaching..you can have the blingest bike on the mountain but if you can't ride it good, then you're a muppet !!
2x10, 29'er , HD as MTK would say, a marketing mans wet dream !!
Joe MCall is a savage rider, having 2x10 didn't make him that way !!
Byrne

If I buy a 29’ with 10 speeds, will I get deadly after some couching? Or will I still a muppet?

Or better if I show up with my folding bike 16’ and 3 speeds?
