Saddle recommendations??

Any tips?

After an hour and a half on the bike on the road yesterday i was worse for wear.
So i think a new saddle is a must.

I was using a GT one that came with one of my bikes.

I mainly do a bit of off road mixed with some road on my MTB.
its very personal thing a saddle, bit like tires and clothes!
I've used Fizik Gobi and they are comfortable but are sore on long ride along the 'ridge' (know where I eman) so I switched to Sella SLR gel flow and its grand so far. Sit on a few bikes and try before you buy.

There might be a try programme in Cycle superstore for Selle.
Thanks for replies.

Well i usually order my stuff on CRC to be honest i just find it handy.

Im limited with bike shops on Galway that stock alot of saddles.

Basically looking for a comfy one which is still think enough for me to slide off if i need to.
Most i would spend sitting down would be an hour max.

Im not looking to spend a fortune on one either the studnet fund doesnt allow im afraid.
The Charge spoon saddles have gotten great reviews, relatively cheap too in comparison to some of those Selle ones.

Before you buy a new saddle...

How often do you go for a spin? What distances?
If you haven't cycled for a few weeks it's normal that your arse is sore...
99% of saddles are comfortable enough these days, you shouldn't really feel that much difference if it's only 1,5h spin.
Check if the saddle is level and it's fore / aft position before you spend 100e on a new one..
Fizik Gobi is great for road and mtb or SDG belle air my alltime fav for mtb especially on a hardtail.

The SDG Belle air is a brilliant saddle i have one myself and have tried it on both my road and mtb bike and i love it
Max is right, it's not about the padding or the brand etc...it's about getting used to being in the saddle for an extended period of time (wehey). You can get away without discomfort on long mtb spins because you're constantly changing position on the saddle or standing on the pedals....when on the road you're in the same position for a long time so you're going to get sore. No point spending 100/200 blips on a saddle for no reason.
holy sweet baby jesus covered in marmite !!! some of the comments in this thread are incredible !! how can people be so anal about saddles !!! its not the saddle thats an issue..you need some quality spanking to toughen up your arse guns !!
