Lugnaquillia would be a challenge at day light at the moment! I was there yesterday for a hill walk, the top part as far as Cloghernagh is ok but the peaty descent is all fcuked and all those natural berms turned to big mud pits. There was a massive land slide just beside the switchbacks but it only damaged the bottom of the trail where it crosses the stream (waterfall at the moment). Fortunately not as bad as Miners!
The Highlight for me of last years night riding had to be Camaderry ..with some mountain in the distance on fire and starlight and snow and the frickin Rock Of death Covered in Ice...
the lowest one was spin from my house to Palmers and the Leadmines in torrential rain, Sleet and slush..it took a half an hour in the shower to stop shivering..then when all the blood came back in to my fingers and toes I nearly passed out..grim and enjoyable in a " i survived that stupidity kind of way !"

I remember cycling up from home that night and trying to warm up using the outside light in the smokers lean-to in Palmers! It was my first year of winter biking so I didn't know what to expect .... I do this year!!

I can never remember night rides, they are all the same, riding into a point of light, utterly forgettable, but that Camaderry spin was just amazing. Guess I have to go looking for my lights then.

Thats was one of the best spins I've ever done, night or day..the fevered gallop to the top, Alfie taking off in the wrong direction towards the cliffs..not for the fainthearted or non savage. I bet in a whole lifetime of riding you never thought you'd be doing **** like that Don !
