The Blast

First of all a huge thanks to all of the marshalls, starters, finishers, uplifters etc.
It was grim at times so fair play to you for sticking it out and encouraging us.

That was my first blast and it was fantastic. The place was in ****e but it still rode really well. I had a bit of a nightmare in the main blast but it was still great craic.

Here here... Thanks to EPIC for another great race, its always the most fun event each year. Thanks to all the marshals who stood out in the terrible weather and congrats to Greg for taking the win!

Any body else partially blind from the muck!?

Easy know Niall lives next door to Ballinastoe - every time he appeared at the uplift he was spotlessly clean and everybody else was manky!!! Well done to everybody - great day despite the weather!

Ye, thanks to everyone for all the work they put in, it was an awesome event. Unfortunately I didn't get to do the main Blast. Big Vinnie took a disliking to me and twisted my knee and ankle pretty bad, I'll be on a crutch for a few days now.

I'll get this in before the frenzy starts!! Fair play to all you lads for making this one happen... when you think that you ran a winter league, dh NPS, XC champs and then the Blast... that takes a special bunch of lads, and to do it so well too!

Had a deadly day today obviously, the track was deadly when you could see where you were going and everyone loved it... great racing in the end. Over the moon to have won it... that'll go to the top of the CV!! Fair play to Niall aswell as Glyn who wasn't far back... if them last corners were wider Niall would have had me!

Was there in a spectator capacity and I must say, what a wet, cold, damp, muddy, thoroughly enjoyable day...:D

It was cool how everyone on the sidelines were super friendly...

Watching everyone head into the 'patio' section was great craic and I saw some number of tree stump hugging, slow-mo endos and sam hill like skills through the rough bits. Fair play one and all.

I'm still on a buzz here!!Thanks to every marshal,timekeeper,tractor driver and to Sean who ran the start like clockwork.Fantastic day,even the wet,mud and cold cound'nt take away from the brillant atmosphere and craic between the riders.
Today was my 1st ever Blast,and in my heat I got a puncture half way on the course and so didnt finish.Walked all the way back to the carpark and changed the tube and went back to the finish area for a chat with some off the Epic finishline marshals.Met Jack who asked me how my heat went,explained about the non-finish,but how I was all set for the main Blast.Jack gets me a 10th place sticker from the caravan and tells me to quickly get up to do the 10th place final.So off I go,do my final,and as ride to the finish line I felt I was around 7th,so Damo says youre 2nd!Thought he was pulling my leg,hence why I was late for my podium as I was'nt expecting any top 3 placing!
Talking of which,thanks to Richie,Stu from Sprocket Cycles and anyone else in Epic who organised my "Most Improved Rider Award",that Goober/Taxi helmet had me and everyone else in stiches laughing!!! I'm heading to my local later for a few pints to celebrate!! Thanks,Micky

Big thanks to all my clubmates who got off their arse and made this happen. My first Blast for various reasons and deadly time had.
Almost got over the finish line in my heat with out being recognised but Byrner saw through the filth and dished out the appropriate slaggin.
From wrestling with Ian Mac in the woods to creaming myself and some Goober who unexpectedly stoped at the end of a north shore thing in front of me, to hitting big Vinnie, closing my eye's counting two jumps and opening them again for the corner, all deadly. Soo many incidents, soo much fun.
I only hope Slivia got to whammy the gobsheen that pushed her off the bike in the heats as that would truly make my day whole.
Fair play to Greg on the win. Irelands deadliest mountain biker.

That was great thanks to all the marshals and the usual crew of organizers and helpers. Great to get to race, it was the first time id raced one since the first blast. The course worked out great it was class to ride with the right mix of fun and pain.

Wow that was some craic. Fair play to all the crew, marshals especially, it was a foul day to be standing around but you still had time to cheer everyone on.

I was told I look like I'm completely stoned off my head my eyes are so swollen and bloodshot from all the mud :P, so your not alone niall.

I had a bit of a nightmare on the main blast but between the three runs I managed to hit everything and finished reasonably well in both heats so I'm well pleased. First time I've done the blast and even with the weather I was having a great time.

Thanks to richie for all the commentary (including egging me on to attempt a pass at the last corner) and for the banter at the prize giving.
