The Brits are like an All Ireland, a two day thing rather than a series, I raced it in 1986 when Ireland was still a Region of Britain (from a BMX perspective). We had about 200 Irish kids race the Brits that year as it was on a week after we compted in the Worlds that due to a coup in Columbia were on in England that year.
Our boy Kelvin took the win in Elite it was made look easy by some crashes but he was out front. His podium celebration is cut short and doesn't show him waving the tri-colour probably because the video is paid for by British Cycling.
So an Irishman is British Champion....he also got 2nd or 3rd in the National Series
