looking forward to some spectacular whinges.
I re-roofed a section of my house last week. took 2 days and I can barely walk.
so i am off to a deadly start, you asked for it, and I have'nt even left yet.
There's a lot of walking going on there, and where's the mud? And that's the worst preparation ever for our winter, the mud goblins will eat you alive when you get back.
Yeh you wouldn't belive the amount of walking that goes on "Ahh goash" I just keep shouting that think it means on your right. Preperation me arse Byrners new route on a tuesday has no schlomp only disco stu and thats a piece of pp!!
Goodluck guys, And enjoy my favorite mtb race in the world, Make sure you keep drinking+ Eating lots, Cause its 3 hours + of pure pleasurable pain. Wish I was going, But am off the bike for a while now with a dislocated knee cap. Have fun.
Well babies another year done and dusted al safe and sound except for poor Ray had an off today on a fast decent, not sure how he is yet but he was ok and talking to me when i came across him but he had a bit of blood on his face anyway I'll keep you informed. I had a good race fri and today 2.43 on friday and 3.34 today Lynchie had a great result today 4.04 and came in ahead of Owen Cullen. Have not seen the other epicurian lads but the girls sawthem all going through safe and sound. Anyway beers now and post yehs later. Au Revoir!!!!!
Well that was a fantastic few days! Great biking and brilliant craic. The whole event was incredibly well organised. Everything ran bang on schedule with an army of organisers and marshalls. Races were sent off in waves of 600 riders at 15 minute intervals - starting with that number of people really has to be experienced! The terrain was mainly rocky trails with lots of very sharp climbs and fast descents.
Friday was the Masters race (42kms) which I found a real struggle - riders were constantly passing me which was very demoralising! Still I finished in 3hr13min and in the top half both overall and in my class (1250 finishers) - so was happy enough!
Sunday was "The Roc" which is the big race of the week with 4500 starters! It's run over the same course as the Masters race but with an additional 16kms added, so 58kms in total! After Friday I was determined to enjoy myself and paced myself for the whole race - felt great all day! Couldn't believe it when I finished in 4hr4min at a higher average speed than the shorter race on Friday - go figure!! Top third overall and top 25% in my class so well chuffed!
Thoroughly recommend the whole experience .... the last thing I did before I left the hotel was book a room for next year!
Do me a favour send me a report not much now, just a page or half a page and a couple of Photos and I'll get something up on the Web about it. along the lines of " My first ROC!!"

Brilliant results there Richard, and that you enjoyed it too, how often does that happen!

I tell you this man is an inspiration, seriously, look at where he was a couple of years ago, well I'm hugely impressed.
Had a great couple of days in the villa with Mac nipples, Oz and Flan undergoing some unorthodox and dubious race preparations ,the races were enjoyable and interesting dealing with the traffic ( walkers + mobile fashion models ) was happy to break 3hrs for Fri and 4 hrs. for Sun. and delighted to get my wrinkly arse in ahead of Mac Nipples skinny hind on both days.
Photos please and a few choice comments ? not of your wrinkly arse..wrinkles on your arse means you've been in the bath too long , Bren.
