here we are with nothing..there might be more of them ( people wise ) over there. But surely we can afford something..theres whole stretches of land all over the place, empty buildings , empty land, empty fricking hearts and minds.
Well Rathoath are building a BMX track and thats where exactly ? fair play to Shay and the boys out there but I live in the wealthiest Borough in the Country and I'm not going to let them away with this lack of facilities. I'm depending on Hairoil for inspiration and help but if theres anybody out there that would like to help me get a BMX track built in the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown area, let me know.
And I don't want empty promises or hope..I want hardcore support and back up..
I've a pain in my hoop with looking at old people racing XC..
2012 in London will showcase BMX racing and the WOrlds are in London the following year..
Cycling Ireland may have done for us with their insane interest in The Track and lack of interest in XC and DH..
but what do we need for BMX ..a couple of feckin football fields and lads with diggers..
we need a GAA for cycling in this country..
once upon a time in Ireland..it was GAA Football, Hurling and Cycling if you wanted to play sport. We have a great tradition of Cycling in this Country but we'd rather let somebody else do it !!

space required is 110m by 70m, costs about 25k. without labour.
Ratoath is 5 mins past Ashbourne in Meath, which is 5 mins past the Ballymun exit from the M50, takes about 20 mins from Rathfarnham.

The Suits, the Commission, Cycling Ireland..the people who stand beside bikes or don't ride them at all.
Its not about the Track or the road or what categories you should have or how many rounds in the poxy NPS there is.
Its about getting kids on bikes , having the craic racing for a short spell on bikes that are fun, that have no gears or that punctures don't affect .
If we don't get kids on bikes, Robin Seymour will still be National Champion when hes 50..
As much as I like Bob and admire his achievements...this is bull Sh*t..
I was never a BMXer, but I can understand the pure gold that it represents.
Its the only bike that really sets the sport on fire..you can sprint, ride berms, jump, crash , skid and impress all ages on one..
And most of all you can build a nation of MTB superstars with it.

unusually for the next 2 years the World champs are in Europe, 2011 Copenhagen, 2012 Birmingham, both within easy reach.
Back when we were fab in 1986 we took an Irish team 100 strong to the Worlds in England, we can be that good again, we have the talent, we have the coaches, we just need the space, the dirt and the graft.
