Well last week the Euros were cancelled but this week its good news! The Biking Blitz is the first national series of 2011 and itâs going to be cracker.
Three races to decide who's crowned King and Queen of the trail centres! Two categories, Baggy Shorts or Super Pro, with the usual youth categories also.
These were some of the best races last year, I know it was run under a different name but hopefully there is the same mad sprint finishes and close racing.
Yeah yeah richie... its the development race series, we know you came up with the idea! Its going to be great craic : )
Actually its not the development series. I want this to be a race for everyone, all the NPS xc riders, downhillers, adventure races... everyone can race it!
The Super Pro should be won in a time of about 1hr 30mins and baggy shorts will be 40mins.
Its going to vary slightly from venue to venue and who turns up etc. It's got to be worth racing for the top guys... fun, exciting and accessible for the newbies too. That might mean that Super Pro is a long-ISH race for some, so we'll then have a short and sharp baggy shorts category.
You don't need to be Cycling Ireland affiliated, you get a one day licence which covers you on the day of the event. We cover the cost of those one day licences.
Greg you have just appointed yourself PR to all downhillers. I'm delighted to have you on board and we're all looking forward to hearing what you have to say over on Irishdh later this afternoon.
