European Masters in Slovenia .... 3 times!!

Can someone explain to me how a country like Slovenia can afford to hold the European Masters for 3 out of the next 4 years but we couldn't manage to do it just once? We really are a shower of w**kers .......!

Why would Slovenia not be able to afford it? Crisis was just an excuse here, its the lack of public recognision (all support focused on GAA etc) that did it.
Cycling in mainland Europe has a much better status than in here, especially mountain biking.

the reason it didn't get ran here is because the wrong people are in charge, simple. If you think anything else you're mistaken.
We need to fix that.

Don't forget Rich, I had the Venue, the Sponsors and the Support but Cycling Ireland had already abandoned it.

Well I really fancy a trip to Slovenia for the Masters in 2012 - anyone coming?

The GAA still take to much of the sports money, Considering its an indigenous sport that will never get into the Olympics.

I have to disagree with you there Rory.I'm not even remotely a GAA fan but you have to admire the effort they have put in and their organisation.
The National Organisation of Cycling in this Country is a joke, has been for years. The GAA have earned every cent they get, we should be copying what they do not begrudging them.
We have no BMX track, no Velodrome, no Offroad Coaching track, no Olympic Pathway worth talking about and before anybody asks, yes I will be going forward to be elected on to the Board Of Cycling Ireland the next time it comes up !!

just because a sport is in the olympics doesn't mean you automatically get loads of cash, in fact you won't get a penny to even start the sport unless you have an certain medal contender waiting in the wings, how narrow minded is that approach? olympic council of ireland - shame on you! (all murray impression)

Did you not read what realy happened Max? The land and tracks where sorted, the aplication for the grant was supposedly put in too late and would not be in in time to complete the work, thats why they had to pass it on, but oh wait :o the DH section will still be built and be ready to be used in August this year? ****in beyond me i tell ya, i have built a 3 min track near enough on my feckin own and these people can't sort one out, why are we paying them money remind me please.
