Now where to start....
The course was riding well, I wasn't impressed when I did a test lap in the morning but it S4s did bed it in nicely. There were a few horrible greasy climbs but it's mountain biking after all, has to be though!
The 5th lap makes a huge difference, and it's not even the pain, it's having to look at all those happy faces near the start finish knowing that you still have one to go....
I haven't ridden one for ages but a racy hardtail is the weapon of choice, a bit twitchy on the techy stuff but the power transfer on the climbs and fireroads does not compare to riding a full sus. I don't think Oisin was too happy to see me beat him on his own race machine!
I'm happy with were I finished, seeing some real superstars in S1s it was a good result. I think my aim to finish in the top 10 overall might not be as distant as I thought it would be, but it's only early in the season so everything is possible.

Well I was goin to race, I wasn't goin to race as I hurt my back last week, Anyway I rubbed my cream in, strapped on my heatstrap and headed of this morning to pic up my Epic buddy's Rusty and Richie and off we went racing. Great race again. I agree with smithers about the first section (especially since I was brutal on the new bit) but it bed in fairly well and was more rideable than on the practice lap. I was delighted with my pace on the easy bits but I was majorly brutal on the sketchy stuff. The section of the DH track was a nice addition. Congrats to the podiumers and Max and Alfie for some smashing racing.

Some craic watching the S4 race and was a good way to calm the nerves. Better than stressing out in the car.
