Trying to get a better pace on the bike, but I have no one to compare to. Imagine some of you will have this information on the GPS.
Would be possible to share some details to see what to aim at on a training spin.:8)
Got this ones trough the phone GPS (Endomondo.com), was up in three rock yesterday, all the way up on road and the way down in the trails, cycling from Wind Arbor.
Whatâs the average pace that some of you are getting?
Sport Mountain biking
Start Time Mar 31, 2011 6:08 PM
Distance 25.39 km
Duration 1h:41m:43s
Avg Speed 15.0 km/h
Altitude 88 m / 547 m
Ascend / Descend 283 m / 408 m
I'm not training for anything specifically... basically just working on fitness... but here's a similar route I did this week bar your start/finish points...
Distance 19.88 km
Duration 1:27:47
Avg Speed 13.59 km/h
Havenât itâs about the same pace.. Think the GPS in the mobile isnât that precise.. and the average did go up because of the road bit..
Not training to anything as well.. just trying to get a bit faster less pain on the weekend spins.. So I can start to aim to longer and more painful spins.
Think is exactly the same route on the mountains.. Up and down trough Tiknock Forest and the trails close to the Fairy Castle.
Curious to see if some of the guys that are training and competing get a comment here just to have one idea how far behind I am as well.:8)
Hoping to get a few Km in the legs over the summer!
Mario, forget about stats, figures, average speeds and all that malarky... unless your training for something serious don't bother with all that nonsense..
The best way to get fit and get fit fast is to simply go out riding with people who are better than you.. its much harder to train on your own but when there is someone else in front of you it motivates you and makes you dig in just that little bit more..
Also, the key to fitness is to be consistent... no point in riding once a week.. that will do fook all for your fitness..
Better would be to get out if people better than me, but itâs not always a option. Well most of the time isnât a option.
Trying to get out now twice a week for a 20/25km spin and then again over the weekend.. that would clock up about 75km a week. With one day rest between the spins on the week.
Just trying to have a idea about what to target when I am alone on the bike. :)

Do your loop once as fast as you can....if you don't beat it the next time you're out then you haven't worked hard enough.

The Guru speaks the truth, you can have all the fancy training plans and Cadence, H.R Zones, average speeds, average moving speed etc, but unless your a pro and have a coach to interpret this data and plan your training sessions then its not much use...
Even if you think your deadly go out on one of the clubs spins and you will soon find your level and what you need to work on..
Depending on your current level of fitness, if you looking to get to race pace and really serious ask Robin or the likes ( contact on this forum )and he will do a plan for you to suit your needs!
Otherwise what the lads say is right for good spin pace fitness, keep the lad in front of you as the next achievement to pass on an ongoing basis, most important of all however is to enjoy every spin as this sport is so enjoyable at every level fitness!

Now...where is that other bottle of Rioja??!:o
Don't listen to him he is a freak of nature who can drink ten beers and smoke 400 cigs and then go out and ride his bike no bother.
The club league is the best way to get race pace and fitness end off!!
