Great program about James Cracknell, Olympic rower, just finished on Discovery but starting again on Discovery +1. It's the third in a trilogy, first was an endurance run across the Sahara and second was a race across America that went wrong! Worth watching.

Amazing to watch. Can't believe they go on for so long in a day. The winner slept for something like 7 hours in the whole week! Mental. Make you want to go off and do 200k on a unicycle or something.
I just saw this post this post now, right now as I type one of my best mates is mid wat through the first of the challenges that this TV series coveres. The Marathon Des Sables, a multi day ultra marathon race across the Sahara desert.
He is following this up with two other mental challenges within the next couple of months.
There are daily updats of the tortute of the Marathon Des Sables posted on his blog / website runner786.com
Mark my mate is a pretty tallented mountain Biker in his own right living smack bang in the middle of the 7stanes.
He is like the Scottish borders very own Richie Byrne. Mark is also a noted climber / kayaker / mountaineer / international ladies man but has no moustash.

yeah i felt terrible for Cracknell on the second or third heat of it where he got lost in the middle of the night and he crossed the finish delusional and with his limbs seizing up..and this is an Olympian, serious stuff alright although that little Egyptian fella that won it wasnt fazed at all :) doing cartwheels and everything at the finish haha

Why people do this or any other great challenges, I'm not sure thats tangable for most.
Mark got accepted to the MDS with 5/6 months before the start of this years race as he was lucky enough to pick up a dropped space.
He managed to do it with heat causing massive blister damage to his feet as opposed to fitness being an issue.
He is off to run across Scotland in the Scottish Ultra in 20 Days, as a side to the running he will be over for the worlds best MTB race aka The EPIC Blast later this year.
