I was thinking of entering the mtb blitz on the 8th (if it's not to late), but was just wondering about the event. Is the races going to be on single track trails or just around some sort of a field? :)
I have looked at the website and it looks like it would be great craic. I know the where abouts of Ticknock but have never riden the trail, so would be unfamiliar with the trail head or where to meet.
Any answers would be appreciated!

Its on the new Coilte Trails on Three Rock / Ticknock. The official opening. Mostly gravel single track. Top section is very fast (dangerous). Bottom section is more technical.
you'd definitely want to get yourself up there before the race (ie; this week) for a few practice runs on BOTH trails
some sections are so fast you'll scare the pants of yourself - you don't wanna be hitting them blind first time in a race
Did a few laps of the new trail with my non-so-savage friends today. The top section is ok but where did all of those breaking bumps come from on the lower section? There must have been hundreds of goobers polluting the place for the last couple of dry weeks.
It's very greasy up there at the moment so I recon there will be carnage tomorrow.
Ah you know what I mean, it's so close to town that it attracts everyone. There are shortcuts around corners already!
I don't mind average guy/girl on a bike, actually I was riding with some of them yesterday...

Yeah it was deadly, the weather turned out great, thought it was going to be miserable after I got soaked on the way up....good buzz up there, it's a lovely 'official' trail.
