I donât know why but I found myself recently thinking about riders I admire who somehow manage to stay under the radar. These are not the famous legends we all know of, just seriously good riders.
2 came to mind.
Brendan O Ruanaidh
Do yourself a favour and the next time he passes you at the club race follow him. He has an uncanny eye for reading the trail picking the best line. Heâs not scanning a few metres ahead but way down the trail and heâs always in the right place at the right time. I actually look forward to being passed by him so I can track him.
Rudolf Brinkman
Rudolf is so fast downhill, and another rider (Luke comes to mind) who proves that a HT ridden well can be every bit as quick as a FS over seriously rough terrain. Try and stay with him next time on Camaderry.

super slick on the bike..if you did as much cycling as i do i'm pretty sure i'd only ever see the back of you
I remember my first spin that Don was on - I had read some "goober" jibes some fool had previously levelled at him, so was expecting a floundering, three-finger braking, half-blind/half-drunk roadie falling all over the place.
Then reality came along - this lad was booting along, making a straight tarmac road out of XTC and Benchcut such was his speed and skill, I've never believed a word I've read on this site ever since... except about Fellujah - yeah, I'd beleive all that sh!t alright :D
For me it has to be Paul Cummins.
Unfortunately you don't get to ride behind him as he's just too fast but viewing from track side i am consistently amazed at his line choice and the flair he executes them.
He carries his smooth floaty flowy style from a DH bike to his XC hard tail or dirt jumper with apparent ease.
The fecker
you can't call Cummins an unsung hero..hes far from unrecognised. Or Don or any of the others on your list so far. Everybody knows who they are and they all get recognised .
I wouldn't insult Rusty, Andrew, Gerry or Don by calling them " unsung heroes" I've known they were deadly for years...
An unsung hero is a real loser touchyfeelywouldyouliketogetacquaintedwithmymicky term !!
Its like calling somebody " harmless"
