Pollaphuca Reservoir

Just wondering if there are any trails around the Reservoir and if so where is the best place to park the car? Was thinking of heading up to Glendalough from Clane but if its worth stopping at Pollaphuca it'll be a shorter journey for me.

I'll be happy out with fire road riding for 3/4 hours although a bit of single track would be great also. Any advice/directions would be much appreciated.

Hey man, unfortunately there is no trail around the reservoir as alot of it is private land etc. If you are coming from clane you could use Glending which is on the left hand side of the road coming from naas to blessington. Theres also some trails near Hollywood in wicklow too but youd have to be shown where they are but also plenty of fireroads too.

http://http://maps.google.com/maps?f...=UTF8&t=h&z=14If you go over the bridge at blessington and go right and take the second left and go up this lane you will arrive at a forest with lots of fireroad and if you look some singletrack. Climb to the top of the forest, over a stile and onto the open mountain going right. Keep going till for a good while you see a road down a sheep track decent on your right. Going right brings back to lacken by road left will eventually get back to the bridge at blessington again. There is more fireroad on your left after a couple of k marked only by a small yellow barrier. I couldn't possibly suggest yoi go thos way as its private but its there.

Of course Slade Valley is just as close from Clane.

Paul, thanks for the response. I have a good idea where Glending is on my way to Blessington.....I fancy going for a good ramble tomorrow so I'm wondering if Glending is a good place for that?

Discostu, I'm not too familiar with Blessington and unfortunately your link isn't connecting. As I come in from Naas do I take a left or right to get to the bridge? Overall, how long a spin in klms would it?

Discostu/Dave, thanks for the direction. I found the place with no hassle this morning & had a nice little spin.

If the good lady allows & there is not too much beer consumed at a Bbq later I may try to get upto Glending in the morning.
