I heard a MTBer was rescued by the coastguard heliwhooper last week , does anybody know the details !!

20 foot face plant from a jump - he is okay apart from a bad headache.

Was watching him getting picked up from down in sandyford on monday evening, the heli was circling for a good half hour before he was picked up.
Seen it was a mtb'er then the next day on the rescue facebook page.
Hope he wasnt too concussed to forget the spin in it :).

Helicopters are nearly as bad as hovercrafts for comfort. Theres nothing as shameful as a Helicopter rescue.
And one from a back garden in Sandyford is unbelievable.

Hardly a surprise though! Willing to bet we'll see a few more carted away before the end of the summer! The trail is very quickly being eroded on either side of the rock features so the ramps are getting steeper and it's only going to get worse. Personally I think both of those trails are very dangerous in as much as they encourage people to outrun their abilities - and when they fall it's going to be fast and probably straight into a rock!

Hey at least he was not at home sitting on his couch getting fat.
It's only a matter of time before there is a case of Face versus Rock in the high courts, Killian will be representing the rock.

He came off on Dream Track and was wearing a lid and has been down there tons of times before.
He got a good concussion and was there for approx. two hours before he was lifted to protect his neck and remembers almost nothing.
I do know that the new trail up the back claimed at least one broken wrist over the weekend so RL's rant is still intact!

no helmet cycling is moronic..I know..i nearly died bcause I wasn't wearing a helmet once upon a time on the road.

So if you have an accident on any mountain. Ring 999 and ask for Mountain rescue.
