Can you put up a start time for the U8/U10 races and have a quick scout over your pre-race info as there is no mention of races for these youth. I'm sure more will come if it looks like they are part of the plan for the day.

Look at the attendances from last years Nationals. Or the early XC races this year.

With Caroline,Orla, Shona, Carol, Val,Gill , Agata , rose, Aine, Claire ,Erica all in the s2/3 race.
Are you mental, we've gotten a lot of Ladies involved this year in the s3 side of things and the s2 women and no race for them.Put them up against Mel and Cait if you want but that would be a terrible blow to their confidence.
Don't mind me though..I know them all by name and ability, like all the kids as well.

I think its an absolute disgrace that there is no womens cats in the champs. We arent even asking for a championship catagory but just a women specific catagory i.e S2 and S3 as it has been all year. We dont care is there is only 5 of us racing, so why does cycling Ireland? How the hell do u think that excluding women from the event or throwing us in at the tail end of the mens S4 race is going to encourage any new ladies into the sport?? There are about 3-4 ladies in the whole country who are at elite level......and what about everyone else who isnt? Thats hardly fair is it?
You cant justify not allowing us to race in a catagory suited to our abilities.
And Richie is right, how many girls are going to want to race against Mel, Cait etc, just to get their asses kicked? Sure if thats the case nobody will enter at all.

The Federation that issues the licence is determined by the athlete's place of main residence, thus completely independent of the nationality. I'll have to wait until next year to become the Irish Champion, when I get my citizenship! :D
Yeah that's an omission on our[my] part, it should read S2 women starting with the s3 men and s3 women starting with the s4 men, 3 laps and 2, similar to the NPS. We will have seperate prizes from the men obviously

Can you put up a start time for the U8/U10 races and have a quick scout over your pre-race info as there is no mention of races for these youth. I'm sure more will come if it looks like they are part of the plan for the day.

Are you mental, we've gotten a lot of Ladies involved this year in the s3 side of things and the s2 women and no race for them.Put them up against Mel and Cait if you want but that would be a terrible blow to their confidence.
Don't mind me though..I know them all by name and ability, like all the kids as well.

I think its an absolute disgrace that there is no womens cats in the champs. We arent even asking for a championship catagory but just a women specific catagory i.e S2 and S3 as it has been all year. We dont care is there is only 5 of us racing, so why does cycling Ireland? How the hell do u think that excluding women from the event or throwing us in at the tail end of the mens S4 race is going to encourage any new ladies into the sport?? There are about 3-4 ladies in the whole country who are at elite level......and what about everyone else who isnt? Thats hardly fair is it?
You cant justify not allowing us to race in a catagory suited to our abilities.
And Richie is right, how many girls are going to want to race against Mel, Cait etc, just to get their asses kicked? Sure if thats the case nobody will enter at all.

The Federation that issues the licence is determined by the athlete's place of main residence, thus completely independent of the nationality. I'll have to wait until next year to become the Irish Champion, when I get my citizenship! :D

It would be a huge shame for numbers to be down because a few invites weren't sent , get on the phone and personally invite the ladies and the parents of the kids,imagine jenny mCacauley, Beth, Mel, Cait all in one race.
With Caroline,Orla, Shona, Carol, Val,Gill , Agata , rose, Aine, Claire ,Erica all in the s2/3 race.
Are you mental, we've gotten a lot of Ladies involved this year in the s3 side of things and the s2 women and no race for them.Put them up against Mel and Cait if you want but that would be a terrible blow to their confidence.
Don't mind me though..I know them all by name and ability, like all the kids as well.
Don;t make the Nationals all about the Elites.
I think its an absolute disgrace that there is no womens cats in the champs. We arent even asking for a championship catagory but just a women specific catagory i.e S2 and S3 as it has been all year. We dont care is there is only 5 of us racing, so why does cycling Ireland? How the hell do u think that excluding women from the event or throwing us in at the tail end of the mens S4 race is going to encourage any new ladies into the sport?? There are about 3-4 ladies in the whole country who are at elite level......and what about everyone else who isnt? Thats hardly fair is it?
You cant justify not allowing us to race in a catagory suited to our abilities.
And Richie is right, how many girls are going to want to race against Mel, Cait etc, just to get their asses kicked? Sure if thats the case nobody will enter at all.

Well I'm going to race, if I podiumed (rather unlikely) I wouldn't get a medal but I can still race. I have an Irish licence though. The Federation that issues the licence is determined by the athlete's place of main residence, thus completely independent of the nationality. I'll have to wait until next year to become the Irish Champion, when I get my citizenship! :D

Looking at the stats if we take last Saturday's Ulster XC race as an example there were 2 S1 women, 1 S2 woman and 3 S3 women. Six in total. For the nationals if all these women rode the one event it would be great until the numbers are there and we can have races for each cat. Harsh I know if you've been racing a category all year..even if you are the only person in the results..... I'll talk to Bob and see what the plan is re: these cats. Can you put up a start time for the U8/U10 races and have a quick scout over your pre-race info as there is no mention of races for these youth. I'm sure more will come if it looks like they are part of the plan for the day.
