Matt Adair got 4 second places at the Junior track champs. Missing out very narrowly in some. (well done to Darragh Zidan there). Defo some fast young lads coming through. Hopefully we don't lose Adair..... he has great potential.
Elsewhere, Ryan had an excellent win in the Mullingar 2 day. winning stage 1, coming a close third in the TT, and getting 4th in the final stage. good consistant riding.... He seems in strong form, winning a MTB race last weekend..... one to watch next Sunday? I think so....

When epic were in the Gorey 3 day it was great to see MTB'rs doing well at it. Everyone was full of support for them. Me too....
I thought most here were cyclists, not just MTB'rs. I thought they might like to see their fellow cyclists achievements. especially if they were from an MTB backround.
As for beating Robin... I agree, possibly not. He is deadly... even more so on his home track. The one he built. But then again.... anyone can have a good/bad day....
yeah right..that was EPIC wanting to dominate all cycling. I have nothing but love and respect for Ryan and his efforts.
But beat Robin in Ireland..its only happened a couple of times in history.
First time Craig Brady and then by Niall Davis..neither of which have ever won a road race or even came close.
Niall is the best mtber in Ireland having won the Blast.
Craig Brady was one of the greatest MTBers we ever had but you wouldn't know that being a newbie.
I obviously encourage MTBers to race the road just to show their superiority but abscond to it entirely.
Give me a break..me and Bob may have had our differences over the years but he is still the best.
Look at his results in the UK lately , he won't be beaten and if he is , I hope it Gareth McKee now there a real MTBer, hoping Robin has a bad day so somebody else can win ..

so, based on these figures, is anybody doing anything about it.Its real easy to come on here and other places and blame the Commission or Cycling Ireland for the lack of junior and youth riders.
I'd rather spend my time doing something about it. We all know that Cycling isn't appealing to junior level participants, way too many distractions at that age.
So I am working from the ground up , building some for 5 to 10 years time. In the meantime, I'm looking at some older ones to hold on to.
But none of this is going to happen overnight and its certainly not going to be done by people who are not in active Clubs and who are not making sacrifices.
I would welcome real time and effort from people who want to change things, I have had years of listening to people go on about how theres no youth in the sport. As much as I hate facts and figures, thanks Fergal for them, it will help me in a big way.

so, based on these figures, is anybody doing anything about it.Its real easy to come on here and other places and blame the Commission or Cycling Ireland for the lack of junior and youth riders.
I'd rather spend my time doing something about it. We all know that Cycling isn't appealing to junior level participants, way too many distractions at that age.
So I am working from the ground up , building some for 5 to 10 years time. In the meantime, I'm looking at some older ones to hold on to.
But none of this is going to happen overnight and its certainly not going to be done by people who are not in active Clubs and who are not making sacrifices.
I would welcome real time and effort from people who want to change things, I have had years of listening to people go on about how theres no youth in the sport. As much as I hate facts and figures, thanks Fergal for them, it will help me in a big way.
