2009 Membership

As most will know by now we are combining the Epic membership fee for 2009 with a compulsory membership to Cycling Ireland.

Here is a list of the different options available for membership to Cycling Ireland:

1. Cycling Membership- This is the basic membership to CI. As a member of CI it will mean that you have liability cover during all the Epic spins. However this option does not enable you to participate in national races and events.
€35.00

2. Restricted Competition- Further to the option above this enables you to participate in national mtb races and events in 2009.
€80.00

3. Full Competition Senior & Vet- Further to the option above, this will enable you to participate in all disciplines (i.e. road, mtb etc)
€115.00

4. Full Competition Junior: As above for Junior applicants (16-18)
€5.00- 1st time applicant
€65.00

5. Full Competition U16: As above for U16 applicants
€35.00

N.B. Anyone wanting to compete abroad must apply for the overseas authorisation (€20.00) and supply a passport photo. There can be no changes made to your Cycling Ireland membership for 2008 once it has been created.


In addition to the above fees the Epic membership fee is €20, you will not be approved as a member for 2009 until one of the above options has also been paid. You can make the €20.00 payment to any Epic committee member once you have received your Cycling Ireland membership. (This applies to all applicants)

If you already have a 2008 Cycling Ireland membership please email me epicmtb09@gmail.com if you would like a renewal and I will forward you the payment details for you 2009 Cycling Ireland membership.

things have been fixed with CI so you should have no problem renewing/applying for licenses now

The CI website is having technical issues and has not been updated since last week, but all membership fees have been increased by €5. Also there is a special introductory offer to new members of a non competition licence for €10. No good to anyone who wants to race a full season, but a great deal for anyone just wanting to be a member and avail of the insurance.

Also day licences are to be harmonised across all disciplines, it varied between disciplines for some reason, the new structure is:

If you have a non competition licence its €10 for Senior and Junior and free for underage. If you do not have any licence at all then €20 for a senior, €10 for a Junior and €5 for underage.

Also the bike insurance is a great deal, I think its about €120 but covers any single bike up to €7,000 and all your bikes up to €10,000. If you have a couple in the shed or have spent a bit of cash on your machine then its well worth it. I wish I had gotten around to getting it, would have saved a couple of grand.

Sean - will that bike insurance cover my bikes here in Vancouver if I get an Irish race licence? (I don't expect to be back in Ireland any time soon).

Alastair,

Call me a dumb arse, but just want to make sure I have all the details to becoming a member. I took a quick look at the site and maybe I need more time to read further, but damn, there is not a lot of explainations!!!

1st - Sign up with Cycling Ireland and pay the €35 or €40 fee? Or is it €10 intro fee for non-compete?

Do I have to mail it in and then get a password to log in? Do I pay with the app or after I have logged in? (the online app link doesn't seem to be working)

2nd - After I get all that sorted, then I pass a €20 to someone in Epic.

Do I have that in a nutshell?

Good questions, I was just looking at it myself and found it a tad confusing. One other thing, the cost of a licence is cheaper if your a member of a club, but earlier in this thread it says you have to have paid for your CI licence BEFORE you can join Epic!! Do you only get the cheaper rate if your an existing member of a club and your renewing your licence?

John, it doesn't really matter..pay your membership fee then get a licence if its easier..Martin, get the €10 licence if you are not going to compete..you shouldn't need a password to get in to the CI site, we get a notice to say you want a licence , we approve it, then you pay for it..

anyway I'll chat to Al about it..its not as complicated as it seems..

Sign up on the CI website. It will ask you for a club select Epic if your not an epic member already i'll get an email from CI to ask me if i know you and if we want you in the club.

If i answer yes to all of the above. I will confirm your license. Then you can give me the form and cash and your in the club. If you are a newbie (i won't recognize your name) drop into the shop with the form and money ands ill then know who you are so i can confirm your CI membership.

Hope this clears things up. If in doubt call into the shop and if its not too busy we can do it all online while your there.

So I tried the link for the online app again and I can confirm it links to no where (at least a dead end). Guess I will have to mail it in unless these things get fixed pretty quickly?

Can I bother ya for one other thing? (implicit question) Does the bike insurance cover my bike if it gets wrecked, stolen, disolves from inactivity, or magically disappears? And is it replacement value or actual value of the bike that is no longer? 2 big determining factors. I couldn't find the info on the website.

John, it doesn't really matter..pay your membership fee then get a licence if its easier..Martin, get the €10 licence if you are not going to compete..you shouldn't need a password to get in to the CI site, we get a notice to say you want a licence , we approve it, then you pay for it..

Sign up on the CI website. It will ask you for a club select Epic if your not an epic member already i'll get an email from CI to ask me if i know you and if we want you in the club.

If i answer yes to all of the above. I will confirm your license. Then you can give me the form and cash and your in the club. If you are a newbie (i won't recognize your name) drop into the shop with the form and money ands ill then know who you are so i can confirm your CI membership.

Hope this clears things up. If in doubt call into the shop and if its not too busy we can do it all online while your there.

So I tried the link for the online app again and I can confirm it links to no where (at least a dead end). Guess I will have to mail it in unless these things get fixed pretty quickly?

Can I bother ya for one other thing? (implicit question) Does the bike insurance cover my bike if it gets wrecked, stolen, disolves from inactivity, or magically disappears? And is it replacement value or actual value of the bike that is no longer? 2 big determining factors. I couldn't find the info on the website.
