Due to the huge response from people requesting this, we are running another total beginner spin on Saturday 20th June
this is for total beginners and imnprovers from our regular Saturday spin.
Downhill Bikes are not suitable.
Suitable for youth riders down to age 10 if they are experienced provided they are accompanied.
Our route will be such that people can bail out along the way if it gets too tough, which it shouldn't.
Toe clips and straps are dangerous, don't use them.
Baggie Tracksuits and jeans are also dangerous.
Fullface helmets and over the top body armour is also not necessary.
Eat plenty the day before and at breakfast.
Spins are where questions are best asked and answered.
Beginners fully kitted out would be this
2 tubes, even if you have tubeless tyres ( trust me)
A multi tool ( including Chainbreaker)
A pump or inflator
Helmets are compulsory
Bars,gels, figrolls
Water or go juice
I would seriously recommend you wear decent fullfinger gloves and put a box of plasters in your camelback or pocket
a rainjacket or windbreaker
No tracksuit bottoms ( YOU WILL DIE !!)
No Cotton t-shirts ( YOU WILL DIE SCREAMING !!)
You don't need a giant camelback with a 3 litre tank or a €300 goretex jacket
You won't need overshoes
Parents can bring their kids if they mind them.
Knee pads are a good idea but not essential
Fullface helmets are not a good idea
Cycling shoes with SPDs are ideal if you have mastered them
Flats with good pins and 5.10's are also ideal.
ladies are more than welcome.
And can you just fire sensible questions please or we'll lose track of this

Hi,beginner girl here, just read through the list of "essentials" and since I haven't done any sort of mountain biking, I have nothing that is on the list and as a student am tight with money so no chance of getting all the things for this saturday, I really really want to get into mountain biking though, will there be another beginner spin anytime very soon? or otherwise what are the very necessary things to have? how long is the trek? if anything's hurting is it possible to just go for an hour or so?
have you a mountainbike and a Helmet ? then come along..we'll mind you if you are a poor student.
These things are essential for people to have to get the most out of Mountainbiking, but as its a beginners spins and you've asked very nicely, then come along and you can split after an hour if its killing you..
But its a hard game and will probably start hurting after 10 minutes !! so don't give up that easy, I don't think the pain ever goes away..!! only joking..or am I?
Richie
Hi , I should be there and no spare bike unfortuntely but ill bring along extra tubes, gloves etc so if any new people are stuck for few essentials. Leeza
Just organised to get a helmet for my birthday, ha, and luckily bought some sort of a wicking t-shirt, i have a bike, its not great now but think for the first spin it'll prob do (it says fork is for leisure only but its a freeride bike, the idea of borrowing sounds very good to me ;-), too. so leeza if there r no other takers for the gloves I would like to "mind" them for the time of the spin, does anyone else have stuff that I could borrow for the one time? I know its weird asking but am a trained student by now, oh and how much food do i have to bring?
