Underage riders wanted

I was inspired on Sunday by the underage kids. I know the Banbridge babes have it sewn up. but as Sophie has decided that riding her bike is actually cool. i may be under pressure to organise something.
I'm looking at running an underage day on the saturday the week before The Blast..
September 6th in Ballinastoe
from under 8's to under 12's. Is there any interest out there ?
let me know, i'll get the Underage course done and away we'll go, obviously I'll require the assistance of some of the other parents. richie.byne@gmail.com
or on www.epicmtb.com this is a non club thing, as far as the CI handbook is concerned i'm still on the underage commission so I may as well do something !!

there was a dad and his young lad on a MAD beginners spin a few weeks ago, the young lad Robert was 13 - looks like he has potential, zipping around the place but knows his limits too, I can drop them a line

due to demand this is also for under 14 and under 16's beginners..

Hi Richie

Great timing with the underage racing, I have one and maybe two sons who are looking to start mbr both underage u12 & u14 next season. My 11 year old should have his new bike this week and will be getting in so training over the coming weeks. I will be very interested in getting him involved in some way this season as he has been to both Tymon park and Kulruddery to see the races and I have to agree Banbridge CC really have the underage well catered for. I will keep intouch and will be happy to help out if I can.

ok this is now definitely going to happen, I have had loads of interest and offers of help, so basically it will be in Ballinastoe on Saturday 6th September,
participants will have to have parents present and one day licences will be compulsory, i will organise that with CI ..so its all good.
if anybody would like to sponsor healthy food for the event I would be most grateful.
No fizzy drinks or savage sweets though.. you know the score..
we will split up the groups with me taking the under 8's and nder 10's and Karl Thomas taking the Under 14's and Under 16's and I haven't decided who will take the under 12's but we will have experts on hand to demonstrate the various ways to have fun on a bike.
The idea of this is to introduce new kids to the sport and to provide information and help established underage kids get more confident.
The emphasis will be on discovering the basic skills needed to start getting the most out of mountainbiking.
I'm hoping to make this a regular thing with a gentle introduction to competition before the start of the 2009 season.
Any help, regardless of club , would be greatly appreciated,

I may have a young lad interested, age 16 or close to. Can't offer to help out myself, will be away in Scotland that weekend. A question regarding the one day licences: do the young people or their parents pay for these (if so, how much?) or does the club, or does CI or what?
