It that time of year again when Cycling Ireland Membership is up for renewal and the most important point that, any rider who is out on an Epic spin (either as a epic member or guest)
HAS TO HAVE A 2011 CI LICENCE.
There is to be no exceptions on this and as it’s pretty much the one rule we have in Epic, please respect it.
In basic terms there are three Licences you can get:
1. non –competition
2. restrictive competition (mtb racing)
3. full competition (Mtb and road racing)
To do this all you need to do is visit the CI website and either renew your current 2010 licence or apply for a new one. All issues need to be directed to CI ( all I do is approve you as an epic member)but I will help where I can,
I have attached some information and forms if you wish to apply by post (please let me know if you are)
We are planning on having this years Epic membership night on Thursday 10 Feb. please ensure that you have applied for the CI licence by then.
to reinforce Jacks post..you have to have Membership of Cycling Ireland to go on EPIC spins.
You're welcome on EPIC spins if you are a member of another Club anytime but we insist that you have a Licence.

Just with regard to the road end of things, anyone thinking of doing stage races (i.e the Gorey 3 day), most of them are restricted to A3 A2 & A1's, this only applies to stages races and not all of them but it applies to the Gorey which we are going to have a another team in this year. All you need to do is tick the A3 box and the app. form.
I'm new to this licence thing and need some help, I'm going to try my hand at both road and mtb racing this season (I'm real keen!!!) I think I'd be A4 for road but not sure what Mtb Category I'll probably race in the new Senior2 cat but thats not on the form so is it Senior or Master?? Thanks

I had the same query and brought my paper application into CI this morning. They told me to apply for a full licence, tick the A4 box and ignore the MTB catagory - only relevant if you are applying for a restricted licence!
Got my licence "licence application completed" email this afternoon too so they seem to really on the ball at the moment!
Just to reiterate what Morty said earlier. Anyone contemplating road stage races must apply for an A3 license as A4 licenses are not allowed enter certain events such as the Gorey 3-day.
Ok, tnx. I only paid â¬85 last year, well I wont be paying that this week or next!!
â¬85 was for a restricted mtb licence (not sure if it's the same this year?) - the â¬120 is for a full licence which allows you to ride in road races also.
its â¬120 for a full competition licence covers everything.
the â¬85 restricted covers BMX,Cyclocross and MTB.
Only get a full if you are riding the road.
